Services

Book a free 15-minute phone consultation to help determine if Take Care Counseling is the right fit for you. During this call, we'll gather some initial information to ensure we're best equipped to support you, and you'll have the chance to ask any questions you may have.

Our first session together is all about getting to know you— your story, your current challenges, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy.

I’ll guide us through a gentle, supportive conversation where we start to build a foundation for our work together. To get a clearer picture of where you are right now, we may use tools like burden assessments and quality of life assessments to understand your stress levels, emotional well-being, and areas that may need more support.

To help better accommodate our clients in this specialized area, all sessions will take place via a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. All that is required is a device with internet connection and video capabilities.

Why Counseling Helps

My work is grounded in the belief that everyone—care partners and those living with dementia alike—deserves a space where they can be seen, heard, and supported without judgment. I strive to create that space in every session. Whether you’re grieving, overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply exhausted, I offer both practical tools and emotional support to help you move forward with clarity and compassion.

People with dementia can vary widely in their symptoms and behavior, and caregivers often struggle to find coping skills that work for them. By using a multidisciplinary approach, I can pull from various therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to assist.

My Specialties

Care Partner Support

Care partner support in my practice offers a compassionate space for caregivers who struggle to prioritize themselves while caring for others. Take Care Counseling offers emotional support, practical coping strategies, and space to process grief, stress, and role changes.

Dementia Education

Dementia education combines the expertise I’ve gained as a certified dementia specialist with practical, compassionate guidance you can trust. I am here to help guide your understanding of dementia, what to expect at each stage, and provide insight to navigate changes with greater confidence.

Psychotherapy

By using an integrative therapeutic modality, I can focus on a holistic approach that draws from multiple therapeutic techniques. It helps to enhance coping skills, balance the intense emotions that accompany a dementia diagnosis, and promote emotional resilience while building on existing strengths.

Confidentiality and Safety (Telehealth)

Information shared during telehealth counseling is confidential and will not be disclosed without your written consent, except as required by law.

Confidentiality may be broken if there is reason to believe you are at serious risk of harming yourself or others, or in cases of suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult. In these situations, I am required to take steps to ensure safety, which may include contacting emergency services or appropriate authorities. When possible, this will be discussed with you in advance.

Telehealth services are not intended for emergency situations. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7 in Tennessee).

Your safety and the safety of others is my highest priority. If at any time you feel unable to keep yourself safe, reaching out for immediate support is an important and courageous step.
